KUALA LUMPUR — The Pahang Royal Palace has denied claims circulating on social media that the Sultan of Pahang, Al-Sultan Abdullah Ri’ayatuddin Al-Mustafa Billah Shah, is offering government financial assistance to members of the public.
In a statement posted on its official “Kesultanan Pahang” Facebook page, the palace said it had detected the re-emergence of several artificial intelligence (AI)-generated videos featuring a likeness of the Sultan and falsely claiming to provide financial aid.
“The public is advised not to share the videos, not to trust any links or information contained within them, and to report immediately to the authorities if they receive any suspicious content,” the statement read.
The palace stressed that the videos were entirely false.
“The Pahang Royal Palace wishes to emphasise that the video is untrue and not authentic. It is a misuse of the Sultan of Pahang’s image for fraudulent purposes and to deceive the public,” it said.
The palace reiterated that the Sultan does not maintain any personal social media accounts and that all official engagements, statements and royal addresses are disseminated exclusively through the verified “Kesultanan Pahang” platforms.
It noted that there is only one legitimate “Kesultanan Pahang” account on Facebook, which currently has approximately 758,000 followers.
The same handle is used for its official Instagram, TikTok and YouTube accounts, while the palace’s official portal is istanapahang.my.
This is not the first such incident. In July last year, the Pahang Royal Palace similarly dismissed as fake an AI-generated video featuring the Sultan’s image that purported to offer financial assistance to the public. - February 23, 2026
