PAITAN: Many of the 80-odd residents in Kg Dalamas are trapped inside their houses and running out of food.
As most houses were built along the riverbank, villagers could not go out but had to wait for the flood water to subside.
Victim Jecyntha Japri said she was worried as the flood had not subsided for three days.
The situation had reached an alarming state as their food supply was getting low. All their crops could not be saved.
She contacted Daily Express hoping to reach out to anyone for assistance especially food to be arranged to be sent urgently.
Her three children had to go without food.
“My husband could not go to the jungle or to our little vegetable garden as everything is covered by flood water now. I think by now all our plants and vegetables are damaged and nothing can be harvested.
Even the road cannot be seen. Part of our oil palm trees are submerged too. Many of our produce are destroyed, and we do not have enough food supply,” she said.
They said they were awaiting food assistance from the authorities via community leaders, village heads or JPKK, but sadly none came to their aid.
“We are supposed to receive some food assistance from the government but till today we are left to ourselves.
“Honestly we do not have anything that can sustain us while the weather is still not permissible to go out to look for our own survival. Anyone coming to send help can only reach us by boat,” she said.
