Crisnanalina Jumis, a 20-year-old from Kg Dalamas, Paitan, has been accepted into Universiti Malaysia Sabah (UMS) after completing her Form 6 at SMK Pitas.
However, her dreams of pursuing higher education is uncertain due to financial constraints.
Despite receiving an offer to study at UMS, her family is unable to afford the RM3,000 required for her registration, with the deadline on Oct 14, plus other expenses.
She tried applying for a one-off financial assistance through the website https://.sabah.gov.my, but poor internet connection in her village made it difficult to complete the application process.

Her aunt, Jacinta Rukiah Japri, made an emotional plea for kind- hearted people out there to assist her niece to register with UMS.
“She is the eldest in the family of five and her siblings are still in school. Her mother is a housewife and her father (my brother) is a farmer.
They live in Kg Dalamas, Paitan, where opportunities are limited, public facilities are lacking with internet connection not stable,” Jacinta explained.
With only a week left to prepare, she hopes to raise enough funds to cover the necessary costs.
Jacinta’s niece, Jessica Rechard, 20, was also offered a place at UMS in Sandakan to study agriculture. Fortunately, Jessica’s parents, who own a small tuck shop, were able to afford her registration and other expenses.
With the registration deadline fast approaching, she is hopeful that anyone, individual or group will come forward to assist her niece with the necessary funds, so she could start her studies at UMS on Oct 14.
Those willing to contribute towards Crisnanalina’s registration and travel expenses to UMS in Kota Kinabalu may do so by banking into her Bank Simpanan Nasional account 1299541100609551.
