PAITAN: Paitan KDCA has been designated as the main distribution hub for relief supplies to flood victims in the Sugut–Paitan area as assistance efforts intensify following the disaster, said State Education, Science and Technology Minister Datuk James Ratib.

James, who is also Sugut Assemblyman, said the Sugut Community Service Centre has been coordinating the distribution of food aid as well as used and new clothing to ensure affected residents receive essential supplies.

He said centralising the aid distribution at Paitan KDCA allows assistance to be organised more systematically before being delivered to villages and temporary evacuation centres (PPS) affected by the floods.

James said he has been on the ground leading relief operations since the first day of the disaster caused by continuous heavy rain that cut off several routes and forced hundreds of residents to evacuate.

He also arranged for the deployment of four Starlink units to establish temporary internet connectivity to facilitate communication between rescue teams, operation centres and evacuation centres, while enabling victims to contact their families.
