Based on the charge, the 65-year-old senior citizen is accused of intentionally causing injury to a young man at a convenience store in a shopping mall last Sunday. For this, he was charged under Section 323 of the Penal Code which can lead to imprisonment of up to one year and a fine of RM2,000 or both if convicted.

Deputy Public Prosecutor Nor Afiqah Musa asked the court to set the bail at RM8,000. Abdul’s lawyer, Mohd. Salleh Togimin, on the other hand, requested a lower bail amount.

“The defendant is a retired civil servant who has three children to support, one of them is currently studying at Universiti Malaysia Sabah.”

“I ask for a bail amount that is not too much of a burden to the defendant because RM8,000 is too much for this offense.”

The court then set bail at RM2,000 and the case has been set to a re-mention for submission of documents on April 29, 2025.

Earlier, Abdul Razak confronted a 21-year-old non-Muslim man for eating in public during Ramadan and asked the latter to show his IC to prove that he was not a Muslim. The matter then escalated and Abdul slapped the young man.
