Some tips on how to research and write an article.
Did you know how to find out major contradictions in Government policy? I googled by typing in four words: “Anwar Ibrahim dismantle NEP”.
When I searched through Google, I found many articles on the subject of removing the New Economic Policy.”
It reported: “Opposition Leader Anwar Ibrahim reiterated he would dismantle the controversial New Economic Policy (NEP) if he seized power. Anwar said he would replace the policy, which was launched in the early 1970s, with a system to boost all poor Malaysians, whether they are majority Malays or from the minority Chinese and Indian communities.”
As a former journalist and Associate Professor teaching journalism in several international universities, I am showing you “How to write an article?” by a simple Google search.
The Edge
KUALA LUMPUR (July 26): Pakatan Harapan intends to come up with an economic policy that does not govern the country based on ethnicity, PKR president Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim said.
In a press conference today, however, Anwar said that affirmative action will remain in place to elevate the poor and reduce inequality.
"That is the position of Pakatan Harapan and Prime Minister Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad now, so what I need to do is to accelerate the process. But I am equally, if not more committed, in terms of reducing inequality and alleviating poverty, so it is not something that is Anwar's programme, but it is Pakatan Harapan's, which started under Dr Mahathir," he told reporters here today.
Anwar also said the race-based approach adopted in the New Economic Policy (NEP) is 'obsolete'.
"We should dismantle the obsolete NEP, but it must be done with a firm commitment to affirmative action based on need, which should involve the government and private sectors. It is our understanding that, after 61 years of independence, we need to foster the awareness that Malaysians, regardless of race, should be seen as one community with equal rights and privileges.
"If we want to abolish the quota system, we have to give assurance that kids in rural areas, who cannot compete in the urban area, must be given an opportunity. In my view, even if it is a Malaysian Chinese kid, we need to help; it is as simple as that," he said.
Six years ago, Freemalaysiatoday reported:
KUALA LUMPUR: PKR president Anwar Ibrahim tonight said the race-based New Economic Policy (NEP) must go, as it is not sustainable in the long run.
“After 60 years of independence, we recognise clearly the provisions of the constitution, of Malay privileges, Islam as the religion of the federation, the status of the national language, and the sovereignty of the (Malay) rulers.
“But we know that the country must progress as a big family.” He said the NEP was not sustainable.
Sustainability means protecting the environment and having compassion for the plight of the common man, regardless of race or religion, he said.
“A poor person who needs assistance must be assisted, whether he is Malay, Chinese, Indian, Iban, or Kadazan,” Anwar said.
KUALA LUMPUR, 26 July 2019, — The Pakatan Harapan (PH) government is doubling down on its promise to dismantle race-based economic policies, and the man tasked to press down on the accelerator is the next-in-line to be prime minister, Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim.
The PKR president said the affirmative policy heavily favoring the Malays and Bumiputera that began as the New Economic Policy (NEP) is “obsolete” and must be removed.
He said the new policy will remain affirmative but will be needs-based and involve both the public and private sectors.
