MANILA, Philippines — Malacañang on Friday dismissed as "fake news" claims that there would be an energy lockdown starting April 20, 2026.

Palace Press Officer Claire Castro issued the statement in response to a social media post about an alleged energy lockdown.

"Fake news. Please spread, this is fake news," Castro said in a viber message.

The advisory, which even bears the logo of the Department of Energy, urged the public to prepare power banks, solar equipment, candles, lamps, food, and other essentials in anticipation of the energy lockdown.
