MANILA, Philippines — Malacañang on Tuesday likened Vice President Sara Duterte to her father, former president Rodrigo Duterte, saying both were experts in sowing intrigues.
Palace Press Officer Claire Castro issued the statement after the vice president prayed that the presidential elections would push through in 2028, as she reaffirmed her intention to run for the country’s top post.
In a press conference, Castro described Duterte’s remarks about 2028 elections as baseless and mere intrigue.
"And the vice president is also a lawyer, so is this a case of ‘like father, like daughter’? We know that former president Duterte admitted that he was an expert in creating intrigue and planting evidence," Castro said.
"So statements like these from the vice president, we can say, are merely intrigue and stories without basis, and hopefully she reviews again, as a lawyer, what is actually in the Constitution, so she can also answer for her own words," she added.
