DATIN Seri Pamela Ling Yueh is not a suspect in the ongoing money laundering investigation, the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) confirmed on Thursday.
MACC Chief Commissioner Tan Sri Azam Baki stated that Ling, who was reported missing in April, was only summoned to assist with the probe and was never detained or treated as a suspect.
“She (Pamela) is not a suspect, she is a witness. We never called her in with the intention of detaining her,” Azam told reporters during a press conference at MACC Headquarters in Putrajaya.
Addressing questions over Ling’s disappearance, Azam explained that the incident took place outside MACC premises and is being investigated by the Royal Malaysia Police (PDRM).
He assured that the MACC is fully cooperating with the police by providing all necessary information relevant to their investigation.
“We have been cooperating well and have provided all the information required by the police regarding Pamela’s disappearance,” he said.
Earlier media reports confirmed that police are also working with Interpol and enforcement authorities in Singapore to record statements from Pamela’s three children.
Pamela Ling was reported missing on 9 April after she entered an e-hailing vehicle from her residence in Cheras, bound for the MACC headquarters in Putrajaya.
Authorities are investigating all possible angles, including claims that she may have been abducted by individuals impersonating police officers. - May 22, 2025
