Kota Kinabalu: The government has paid land and structure compensation totalling RM1.147 billion to owners as of April 1 this year for the Pan Borneo Highway project in Sabah, said Deputy Chief Minister and Public Works Minister Datuk Shahelmey Yahya.

This sum includes RM651 million in compensation paid to 1,591 land and structure owners up to 2019 when the project was under the project delivery partner system.

“The compensation amount for land and structures in Sarawak is lower compared to Sabah because in Sarawak, their existing road corridor is 100 metres wide,” he said at the State Legislative Assembly sitting here on Tuesday.

“While in Sabah, the existing corridor is only 30 metres wide.”
