Former councillor Omwati Poonia tying a rakhi to Haryana CM Nayab Singh Saini at her house in Panchkula on Friday.

Five days after Panchkula BJP expelled former councillor Omwati Poonia and her husband from the primary membership of the party, Chief Minister (CM) Nayab Singh Saini and BJP State President Mohan Lal Baroli reached Poonia’s house on Friday to persuade the disgruntled leader, who was contesting as an independent candidate from Ward 12.

Poonia has now announced her support for BJP candidate Rakesh Jagota, who is contesting from Ward 12. The State President welcomed her by presenting her with a BJP turban.

Poonia, along with her workers, gave the Chief Minister and State President a warm welcome upon their arrival at her home. She said she would work with complete loyalty and dedication to ensure the BJP candidate’s victory with a landslide victory.

During the ceremony, Poonia tied a Rakhi to the Chief Minister. While tying the Rakhi, she said it was a thread of trust and that she would never leave the party. The Chief Minister also greeted her with folded hands.

Saini said the BJP family is constantly growing stronger and that party workers receive full respect.

On this occasion, BJP State Co-Incharge and Rajya Sabha MP Surendra Nagar, State Vice President Banto Kataria, District President Ajay Mittal, and Omwati’s husband, Sukhbir Poonia, were also present.

Ironically, on May 3, the Panchkula district BJP President had expelled Veenu Rao from Ward No. 3, former councillor Omvati Punia from Ward No. 12, Bhanu Pratap, Jasbir Bidlan from Ward No. 7 and Sukhbir Punia from Ward No. 12 for working against the party candidate.
