KOTA KINABALU: Usno President Tan Sri Pandikar Amin Mulia (pic) has described Gabungan Rakyat Sabah (GRS) as a brilliant political strategy for the state, urging leaders to move beyond outdated politics shaped by the 1985 era.

Speaking at the launch of the GRS election machinery here on Sunday, he said Sabah’s political maturity lies in its ability to prioritise unity and governance over emotional or historical sentiments.

Pandikar said Chief Minister and Gagasan Rakyat President Datuk Seri Hajiji Noor’s leadership marked a turning point by uniting local leaders and steering Sabah away from parties dominated by Peninsular interests.

He warned against reviving old narratives reminiscent of the 1985 political climate, saying such sentiments had once divided the state and opened the door for external interference.

Pandikar urged GRS to strengthen its political messaging and focus on unity, saying Sabah’s future depends on collective effort rather than nostalgia or division.
