PAO hails proposed legal program for OFWs

THE Public Attorney’s Office (PAO) lauded the proposal of the Office of the Cabinet Secretary to establish an Overseas Filipino Workers Legal Advisory Assistance Program (Olaap).

PAO chief Persida Rueda-Acosta said Secretary Benhur Abalos recognized that many OFWs encounter legal concerns, including employment, family relations and property matters.

Based on Abalos’ plan, Rueda-Acosta said Olaap will provide OFWs with a free and accessible legal consultation channel through secure online teleconference platforms.

This, she noted, would allow them to consult with licensed lawyers in the Philippines without the need to travel or incur significant expense.
