KOTA KINABALU: The Papar Chinese Chamber of Commerce has dismissed claims that local businessman Datuk Chee Chi Vun, who intends to contest the Api-Api state seat under PKR, as a “parachute candidate.”Its president, Cheoh High Weal, said Chee has long been active in the area through business and charitable work, earning strong grassroots recognition, especially among the Chinese community.
“Chee has proven his commitment to society and contributed significantly in business, education, religious, and sports sectors. We fully support his intention to serve Api-Api,” Cheoh said after meeting Chee recently.
He added that voters in the coming state election should choose candidates based on service and contribution, not just party affiliation.
Chee, in response, thanked the Chamber for its support and said he hoped to earn the trust of Api-Api residents.
“As part of the Madani government’s core party, PKR carries a major responsibility for Malaysia’s and Sabah’s development. Through this platform, I aim to further serve and uplift the local community,” he said.
