PRX’s Early Setbacks at VCT Pacific Kickoff
Singapore's Paper Rex (PRX) had a disappointing start to the 2025 season. After losing to T1 1-2 in their first game of the VCT Pacific Kickoff, they defeated ZETA Division 2-0, but they were shocked to lose to DetonatioN FocusMe, a Korean team with one of the league's lowest win records.
Early in the season, PRX's unexpected 0–2 loss undermined fan faith by preventing them from qualifying for the Masters Bangkok.
Introducing PRX's Sixth Man: A Strategic Signing
Rather of panicking, PRX made a wise roster decision by adding Philippine player Patrick "PatMen" Mendoza as their sixth man. PatMen, a former player for ZOL Esports and NAOS Esports, is well-known for his adaptability on initiator and duelist agents.
With this addition, PRX has additional strategic choices going into Stage 1 and tactical depth.
“Adding PatMen to the PRX family allows us to widen our experiments with a greater breadth of playstyles,” Paper Rex Chief Gaming Officer Harley “dsn” Örwall said.”
Although “PatMen” is currently listed as a substitute, he is expected to officially join the main roster in Stage 2, potentially replacing either “Jinggg” or “mindfreak.” However, during Stage 1, he has already stepped in for “mindfreak” starting from Paper Rex’s second match against “Gen.G”.
PRX on VCT2025: Pacific Stage 1
As of April 24, 2025, Paper Rex has progressed to the VCT 2025: Pacific Stage 1 playoffs. During the group stage, they won both maps, Split and Lotus winning 13–9 on the latter to solidify their place with a resounding 2-0 victory against Global Esports.
Paper Rex is gearing up for a challenging playoff run, with their next clash set against T1 in the Upper Bracket Round 1. As the playoff battles heat up, the spotlight is on them to see how they’ll rise to the occasion in this high-stakes stage.
