Papparaidu’s 'Jom Ngopi' draws 400 Banting residents

BANTING, July 23 - About 400 residents attended the ‘Jom Ngopi Bersama ADN Banting’ programme at Taman Bakti in Kampung Sungai Manggis here, bringing together people from different communities in an effort to strengthen social ties.

Banting assemblyman Papparaidu Veraman said the event was the third in a series organised according to the council zones within the Banting constituency.

He said Kampung Sungai Manggis was chosen because it is home to Malay, Chinese, Indian and Orang Asli communities, besides serving as a link to several neighbouring villages.

“Programmes like this provide an opportunity for residents to interact with local leaders in a relaxed setting, while strengthening ties among the various communities,” he said.

According to Papparaidu, 400 durians were distributed to families attending the event, alongside mangosteens and rambutans, while visitors were also served nasi lemak and roti canai.

Meanwhile, Papparaidu said he had also inspected the futsal court built in the area, which is now being fully utilised by local youths.
