Kota Kinabalu: A paraglider died after crashing on a roadside concrete slope along the Pan Borneo Highway near Kampung Keliangau in Menggatal, here, on Friday.
Acting City Police Chief Supt Kalsom Idris said the 26-year-old man succumbed to his fatal injuries at the scene in the 5pm mishap.
"During the incident, the man is said to have glided with a passenger down Kokol hill and managed to land safely," she said.
"However, as soon as the passenger was released from the harness, the man was blown away by strong winds causing the crash."
Police ruled out foul play but investigations continued. The victim was sent to the Queen Elizabeth Hospital for an autopsy.
