It’s hard not to look at Giorgio Armani’s passing—which happened at the start of the Spring/Summer 2026 fashion month—as symbolic. The 91-year-old designer, who founded his label in the 1970s, represented the old guard of fashion. And now a new guard is being unveiled at Paris Fashion Week, where several creative directors are presenting their debut or sophomore collections for the world’s biggest fashion houses.

There’s Jonathan Anderson, who has finally presented his first Dior womenswear show. There’s Haider Ackermann, who is taking the Tom Ford label into a new era with his sexy, second ready-to-wear collection. Miguel Angel Freitas will unveil his first Mugler collection on 2 October, the same day that we will see British designer Mark Thomas’s new vision for Carven.

The next day, Jack McCollough and Lazaro Hernandez—formerly the Proenza Schouler boys—will make their anticipated debut at Loewe, while Sarah Burton will present the follow-up to her romantic, couture-inspired debut collection for Givenchy.

French fashion brand Jean Paul Gaultier returns to the ready-to-wear calendar this season—this time, helmed by Dutch provocateur Duran Lantink. Paris Fashion Week will close with some major debuts: from Pierpaolo Piccioli at Balenciaga, and Matthieu Blazy at Chanel.
