A Parliamentary panel on Friday reportedly questioned CBI Director Praveen Sood and National Testing Agency (NTA) Director-General Abhishek Singh over the handling of the NEET-UG 2026 paper leak case, expressing concern over the apparent lack of coordination between the agencies during the investigation.

The NTA chief assured the committee that comprehensive safeguards and foolproof arrangements were being implemented to prevent any recurrence of examination-related irregularities in the future.

AIADMK Rajya Sabha MP N Thambidurai, who heads the panel, was informed that the CBI has so far arrested 13 people in connection with the 2026 NEET paper leak case.

Sources said the agency assured the committee that investigators were close to identifying the kingpin and that further interrogation and investigation were under way.

A presentation on the 2024 NEET paper leak case was also made before the panel.

The CBI said a chargesheet had been filed and charges framed against the accused linked to the case.

According to sources, the agency further told the committee that several discrepancies had been noticed during the investigation, including allegations of question paper leaks, organised cheating rackets in which touts allegedly collected money from candidates, and manipulation of answer sheets.
