
PARLIAMENTARY Special Select Committees (JKPK) today announced the appointment of 11 new members in a reshuffle prompted by last month’s Cabinet changes and the resignation of a committee member.
According to minutes from the Selection Committee meeting released today, former Minister in the Prime Minister’s Department (Federal Territories), Datuk Seri Dr Zaliha Mustafa, has been appointed to the Public Accounts Committee (PAC). Dr Zaliha, representing Sekijang under Pakatan Harapan (PH), replaces Sim Tze Tzin (PH–Bayan Baru), who was recently appointed Deputy Minister of Investment, Trade and Industry.
Datuk Seri Hasni Mohammad (BN–Simpang Renggam) has been named a member of the Finance and Economy Select Committee, filling the vacancy left by Datuk Mohd Shahar Abdullah (BN–Paya Besar), who assumed the role of Deputy Minister of Economy.
Tan Kar Hing (PH–Gopeng) joins the Health Select Committee, replacing Sim Tze Tzin, previously vice-chair, while Onn Abu Bakar (PH–Batu Pahat) fills the seat vacated by Dr Mohammed Taufiq Johari (PH–Sungai Petani), now Minister of Youth and Sports.
In the Security Select Committee, Jimmy Puah (PH–Tebrau) succeeds Ledang MP Syed Ibrahim Syed Noh, who was appointed Deputy Minister of Natural Resources and Environmental Sustainability.
The Women, Children and Social Development Committee also saw changes, with Datuk Seri Sh Mohmed Sh Ali (BN–Pekan) taking over from Datuk Suhaimi Nasir (BN–Libaran), who resigned, and Tan Hong Pin (PH–DAP) replacing Mordi Bimol (PH–DAP).
Datuk Muhammad Bakhtiar Wan Chik (PH–PKR) has been appointed to the International Relations and Foreign Trade Committee, filling the vacancy left by R Yuneswaran (PH–PKR).
Meanwhile, Datuk Matbali Musah (GRS–Sipitang) replaces Datuk Lo Su Fui (GRS–Tawau) in the Parliamentary Committee for the Prime Minister’s Department (Federal Territories), and Datuk Jonathan Yassin (GRS–Ranau) joins the Finance and Economy Committee.
The first Selection Committee meeting of 2026 took place on 22 January, chaired by Speaker of the House of Representatives Tan Sri Johari Abdul, with attendance from MPs including Datuk Seri Fadillah Yusof (Petrajaya), Anthony Loke (Seremban), Datuk Seri Aminuddin Harun (Port Dickson), and Secretary of the House Dr Nizam Mydin Bacha Mydin.
