PAS appoints non-Muslim as special aide to its S’gor commissioner

KUALA LUMPUR – Selangor PAS has appointed a non-Muslim to aid the party’s state commissioner Datuk Ahmad Yunus Hairi as his special officer for non-Malay affairs.

In a statement posted on PAS organ HarakahDaily today, Selangor PAS communications secretary Roslan Shahir Mohd Shahir said Low Lee Leong, 46, will be assisting Yunus in creating ties between the party and the non-Malay community.

“We realise that Selangor is a state comprising various races and cultures, with nearly 39% of its residents consisting of non-Malays and non-Bumiputras.

“(Low) will help in establishing relationships between Selangor PAS by building connections with the local community, non-governmental organisations and other relevant bodies membered by non-Malays, including Chinese, Indians and those of other races.”

He also expects the appointment to present a positive image of and “true perspective” on PAS to non-Malays in the state.

“Hopefully, (non-Malay voters) here will better understand (the party) and not hesitate to vote PAS and Perikatan Nasional in the upcoming state elections.”

Low is reportedly an aeronautical engineering graduate from Universiti Putra Malaysia, and had joined the PAS supporters’ club as a life member in 2013. – The Vibes, January 18, 2023
