PAS has expressed strong support for Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim’s call for collective responsibility in safeguarding Malaysia's harmony, emphasising the need for all parties to work together in upholding unity and peace.
PAS Secretary-General Datuk Seri Takiyuddin Hassan also backed the Prime Minister’s warning against exploiting religious issues for personal gain, stressing that such actions could harm race relations and undermine national stability.
“We also support the government's stance on upholding Islam as the religion of the federation, while ensuring that all parties respect religious and racial boundaries, regulations, and laws,” Takiyuddin said in a statement today.
He added PAS has long championed the values of mutual respect, understanding, and appreciation, which are essential to Malaysia’s multicultural identity.
“These values are not merely ideals to be referenced occasionally; they must be a way of life and a national mindset that applies at all times and in all situations,” he said.
Takiyuddin cautioned that failure to act decisively and fairly against any party violating these principles—especially when such actions infringe on the legitimate rights and perspectives of others—could provoke negative reactions from affected communities.
Yesterday, Anwar reaffirmed the government’s commitment to taking firm action against those who insult or attack religious beliefs.
He also dismissed claims of bias in law enforcement, emphasizing that all instances of religious mockery are thoroughly investigated and prosecuted. – March 8, 2025
