THE Pan-Malaysian Islamic Party (PAS) has strongly condemned the reported United States and Israeli airstrike on Iran that allegedly killed the country’s Supreme Leader, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, describing the attack as a violation of international norms and a threat to regional stability.
PAS president Tan Sri Abdul Hadi Awang said the strike, which was reported to have targeted strategic locations including areas linked to Iran’s top leadership, breached universal principles of justice and undermined Iran’s sovereignty.
“PAS extends its condolences to the family of Ayatollah Ali Khamenei over this tragedy.
“May Allah bestow His mercy upon him and grant him the reward of martyrdom in the sight of Allah.
“The entire world must unite in condemning the United States and Israel, who are not only alleged to be the masterminds behind the attack, but are also committing war crimes in the West Asia region,” he said in a statement today.
Earlier, Iranian state media reported that Khamenei, 86, had been killed in an airstrike allegedly launched by the United States and Israel, with his residential complex in Tehran said to have been the primary target of the military operation.
The announcement came hours after U.S. President Donald Trump claimed that Khamenei had been killed in what he described as an effort to end security threats against the United States. - March 1, 2026
