LABUAN: Sabah is taking the right measures to become a developed State but all this will be in jeopardy if PAS makes inroads in the state, says activist George Elias.

“We may end up like Kelantan which has been ruled by PAS all along and seen as a failed state.

He was commenting on PAS plans to extend here by contesting 15 seats in the coming state election.

George wondered how PAS could achieve such a goal here when it even destroyed Labuan’s economy by scrapping the duty-free privileges on tobacco and liquor when the FT Minister was from PAS a few years back.

He noted there was also a vast difference in ideology. Sabah is a model state of harmony, tolerance and acceptance.

George said there is no evidence the party even cared for Sabahans who were hit by the recent floods and landslides.

“Only GRS elected representatives and NGOs responded.”
