In response to PAS President Abdul Hadi Awang's comments that non-Muslims and non-Bumiputeras are thought to make up the majority of those implicated in corruption in the country, the police have filed an investigation document against him.

In accordance with Section 505 (C) of the Penal Code for making statements likely to incite the public and Section 233 of the Communications and Multimedia Act for improper use of network facilities or network services, Hadi will soon be summoned to Bukit Aman, according to police spokesman A Skandaguru.

The report was filed by non-governmental organisations Dayak Bukit Kelinkang (DBK), Persatuan Adat Asal Bidoyoh Sarawak, Sarawak Dayak Association (Pedas), and SMETAP Society under the leadership of SAPA president Dominique Ng.

When approached outside the police station, Ng disclosed that Abdul Hadi had more than 10 police reports filed against him for his offensive remarks.

"We vehemently disagree with the statements made by Abdul Hadi. He has a lot of influence because he is the president of PAS. As a result, we want the state government to renounce him and forbid him from ever setting foot in Sarawak. He's not welcome here, we told him.

Abdul Hadi came under fire for saying that non-Malays' sway over the nation's politics and economics was the main driver of corruption.

He claimed that doing this had given non-Malays the power to command the Malays, leading to their corruption and involvement in financial problems.

Many Malaysians sharply criticised the PAS leader's remarks. Abdul Hadi's statement shocked MCA Secretary-General Datuk Chong Sin Woon, who asked that he retract it right away.

He said that race or religion had no bearing on corruption. This is plain knowledge and an evident fact.

He claimed Abdul Hadi had not supported his claims with facts, analysis, empirical data, or scientific justification.

This shows that his claims are complete rubbish, he said.
