PAS is ready for GE16 whenever the government decides to dissolve Parliament, including an early election, says party president Abdul Hadi Awang.
PETALING JAYA: PAS is fully prepared to face the 16th General Election (GE16) at any time should the government decide to dissolve Parliament, whether ahead of schedule or closer to the end of its term.
PAS president Tan Sri Abdul Hadi Awang said the party was accustomed to facing such circumstances and was always prepared for any eventuality.
“It is up to the government. PAS will follow. The party is always prepared, including in terms of preparing candidates, to face any possibility,” Kosmo! quoted him as saying after officiating the PAS Central Ulama Council Muktamar in Kota Bharu today.
Earlier, the media reported that Umno and Barisan Nasional (BN) believed it would be better for GE16 to be held earlier, before Parliament’s term approaches its scheduled expiry at the end of next year.
BN chairman and Umno president Datuk Seri Ahmad Zahid Hamidi said such a move would allow the Federal Government to seek a fresh mandate from the people.
