PARTI Islam Se-Malaysia (PAS) has terminated with immediate effect the party membership of three Perlis state assemblymen following their alleged involvement in signing statutory declarations (SDs) deemed to have compromised the leadership of the Perlis state government.

The three assemblymen are Saad Seman of Chuping, Fakhrul Anwar Ismail of Bintong and Mohd Ridzuan Hashim of Guar Sanji.

PAS president Tan Sri Abdul Hadi Awang said the decision was reached during a special meeting of the PAS Central Working Committee held at the party president’s office in Rusila, Marang, Terengganu, on Wednesday.

He said the meeting resolved, based on Clause 76 and Clause 15A(1)(b) of the PAS Constitution (2025 Amendment), that the membership of the three elected representatives be terminated with immediate effect.

“The PAS Central Working Committee meeting convened today has decided that the following PAS legislative members shall have their membership as PAS members terminated with immediate effect,” he said in a statement.

Abdul Hadi added that the party would formally notify the Speaker of the Perlis State Legislative Assembly of the decision in accordance with Article 50A(1)(a)(ii) of the Perlis State Constitution (Amendment) 2022.

Earlier, local media reported mounting tensions within the Perikatan Nasional (PN) administration in Perlis, with claims that eight state assemblymen were no longer supporting the leadership of Perlis Menteri Besar Mohd Shukri Ramli.

The reports alleged that the group of assemblymen had submitted statutory declarations to the Perlis Palace last Friday.

According to the reports, the group comprised three PAS assemblymen and several others from Bersatu.

Perlis has a total of 15 state assembly seats. At the 15th General Election, PN made history by winning 14 seats, while Pakatan Harapan secured only one seat in the Indera Kayangan constituency. December 25, 2025
