As investigations into serious allegations against Global Ikhwan Services and Business Holdings (GISBH) continue, PAS has called for the protection of the company’s expansive business network. The Islamist party stressed the need for a fair and professional inquiry into accusations of child abuse, sexual misconduct, and deviant Islamic teachings associated with the group, warning that undue harm should not befall the innocent or the legitimate businesses operating under the GISBH banner.
In a statement, PAS Secretary-General Takiyuddin Hassan said that while the party supports a thorough investigation, it is crucial that GISBH’s diverse and legally compliant ventures, ranging from supermarkets and bakeries to restaurants and other enterprises spanning Malaysia, the Middle East, Europe, and China, are shielded from the fallout of unverified claims.
Takiyuddin urged authorities to ensure that, in their pursuit of holding those responsible accountable, the group’s overall operations are not harmed, particularly its innocent members and the legitimate parts of its businesses. He also highlighted the growing concern over negative campaigns against GISBH circulating on social media platforms, stating that they could unfairly tarnish the company’s reputation.
GISBH has faced heightened scrutiny after police conducted raids on properties linked to the group recently. Authorities rescued over 400 children, with some reportedly victims of sodomy and coached into committing similar assaults. A total of 171 individuals were arrested during the raids, and more than 150 additional arrests have since followed. While four men linked to the organization have been charged with sexual offenses, GISBH has maintained its denial of involvement in the welfare homes where the alleged abuses took place.
The company’s CEO, Nasiruddin Ali, later acknowledged that past instances of sexual misconduct had occurred within the organization but maintained that GISBH had reformed and shed its associations with the banned Al-Arqam sect, now operating strictly as a multinational business entity.
Despite these reassurances, police raids have continued, with the latest operation in Melaka rescuing 34 more children from locations linked to the company. As investigations deepen, PAS insists that GISBH’s business interests must be safeguarded from undue damage, emphasizing that any wrongdoing should not eclipse the positive contributions made by the group's legitimate operations.
The outcome of the investigation is likely to have a significant impact on both GISBH's future and public trust in its operations. PAS, however, remains firm in its stance that the process should be balanced, cautioning against allowing public opinion or negative campaigns to preempt the course of justice. The party continues to advocate for a just and transparent inquiry that addresses the allegations without unfairly targeting the broader business network.
This ongoing controversy serves as a reminder of the delicate balance between legal investigations and protecting business interests, particularly when large networks and many livelihoods are at stake. While PAS’s call for fairness is commendable, it is important not to compromise the professionalism of the police investigations and actions, as the situation continues to unfold during the probe.
