KUALA LUMPUR – A routine ride-sharing journey turned alarming when a woman reportedly jumped from a moving car, sustaining minor injuries, allegedly because she felt unsafe with the driver.
North Klang police chief Assistant Commissioner S. Vijaya Rao confirmed that the 47-year-old driver filed a police report after the incident, which occurred on May 1.
He said the episode unfolded on a road near a petrol station in Taman Eng Ann, while the driver was ferrying two female passengers.
“During the journey, one of the passengers in the rear seat suddenly opened the right-side door and jumped out while the vehicle was still in motion,” he said in a brief statement to Scoop.
“The driver immediately stopped the car and found that she had sustained minor injuries as a result of the fall.”
Initial investigations indicate that the woman may have felt anxious and unsafe, allegedly due to the driver repeatedly looking at her through the rear-view mirror without reason.
A passing motorcyclist later assisted the woman and brought her to a nearby clinic for treatment.
Vijaya added that the driver lodged the report to protect himself from potential disputes.
“The case is being investigated under Section 336 of the Penal Code for endangering human life or personal safety,” he said, noting that authorities are working to trace the woman involved. - May 2, 2026
