A recent incident at Kuala Lumpur International Airport 2 (KLIA2) has sparked considerable attention online.

A passenger, who missed his flight to Beijing, faced criticism after a video surfaced showing him berating the ground staff for closing the boarding gate.

The video, initially shared by Reddit user named UsernameGenerik, reveals the passenger’s frustration for not being allowed to board his flight, despite arriving just 10 minutes before the scheduled departure.

Staff calmly showed their name tags

In the aviation industry, passengers are generally advised to reach their boarding gates well in advance, typically 30 to 90 minutes prior to departure.

This standard procedure is in place to ensure smooth operations and timely departures.

In this case, the boarding gate was closed 20 minutes before takeoff, a common practice across airports to finalize preparations for departure.

The video captures the man’s attempt to hold the staff accountable, recording their tag numbers and threatening to make the incident viral.

He can be heard saying, “What time is it now? 6:30 something, we were here already. 6:30 something and they’re not letting us go in. So, I’m sorry, this is their tag number, and this is your tag number, I have to make this go viral because this doesn’t make sense.”

Yet, the staff were seen so chill, calmly showing their identification tags to the camera.

However, the situation turned against him, as viewers online largely sided with the airport staff.

The consensus among netizens was that the passenger’s last-minute arrival at the gate was the primary reason for missing the flight, not the actions of the ground staff.

The incident has since gone viral, but not in the way the passenger had intended, serving as a cautionary tale about the importance of adhering to airport protocols.
