Passengers stranded at KKIA vent frustrations after Indonesia volcano eruptions disrupt flights

Kota Kinabalu: Some passengers stranded at Kota Kinabalu International Airport (KKIA) after the suspension of all scheduled flights due to Indonesia’s Mt. Ruang eruptions took to Facebook to vent their frustrations Thursday.

A Facebook user named Awang Zakwan said he was stranded at the airport alone. "I hope my flight back will be smooth until I reach home," Awang says in his post.

Another Facebook user, Kyrul Nizam Awang, posted a picture of his family sitting on the airport floor after their flight to Kuala Lumpur was cancelled.

His post says: "Our flight will likely be rescheduled today, this will bore us."

On her Facebook account, she wrote: "When asked what we can claim, the counter staff said they didn't know and suggested we request a refund. I'm upset they said that. I waited for an hour with my child.”

A Facebook page named TawauSyurga reported that many passengers were also stranded at Tawau Airport, most of whom were tourists facing difficulties rescheduling their flights, hotels and other arrangements.
