Kota Kinabalu: The Liberal Democratic Party (LDP) slammed a mischievous video with the caption “Sabah Mundur Jaya”, which it says is an attempt to tarnish the reputation of the Gabungan Rakyat Sabah (GRS) government.

Its Vice President David Ong stated that the footage, depicting deteriorating road conditions and flooding, was not in Sabah or anywhere in Malaysia.

“A closer examination of the video confirms several elements do not align with Sabah’s actual infrastructure or road conditions,” Ong said.

The discrepancies include green taxis and foreign licence plates that do not exist in Malaysia. The public buses in the video differ from those in Sabah with unfamiliar signage and designs.

“The structures and billboards in the background also do not match any known locations in Sabah. Traffic conditions, vehicles, cyclists, and the overall urban landscape are inconsistent with our state’s road environment,” he added.

Ong stressed that the deliberate spread of such misleading content raises concerns about ulterior motives. He accused opposition forces of coordinating efforts to create confusion and misrepresent Sabah’s progress under the GRS-led government.

“The spread of misinformation for political gain is irresponsible and damaging. Sabahans deserve leaders who focus on real issues and genuine solutions, not propaganda designed to sow discord,” Ong asserted.

He urged the public to verify information before sharing it and remain vigilant against fake news meant to create division.
