Patiala administration bans holding any dharnas in Patiala under various Sections of the CrPC. The order comes days after recent protests by unemployed power union members who were dispersed by the police.
Interestingly, the orders come on a day when some of the protesting apprentice linemen reached Sangrur-Patiala highway and one of them climbed an electricity transmission tower on the Patiala–Sangrur road to protest the authorities’ failure to address their demands.
Senior union members said that initially one member was atop the tower, but now nine more have joined him on the tower. Meanwhile, around 100 others are staging a sit-in beneath it at village Bhedpura on the Patiala–Sangrur highway.
