As a driver, if you’re still not making way for an ambulance when lives are at stake, you should probably have your driver’s license revoked.
In a viral (and nerve-wracking) TikTok post by @advance_ems_medivac, the video shows a stubborn Toyota Altis driver on the right lane refusing to make way for an ambulance driver who was rushing to his destination. Frustrated, the ambulance driver spoke through the microphone attached to the ambulance, and asked the driver in the Toyota Altis to “please make way”.
The reminder from the loudspeaker should’ve been more than loud enough (if not the siren) for the Toyota driver to get alerted. Unfortunately, he was still hogging the right lane and so, the ambulance driver who didn’t want to waste crucial time, decided to overtake the Toyota driver, and here’s when the unexpected happened.
The Toyota driver refused to let the ambulance overtake. As you can see in the clip below, every time the ambulance driver changed lanes, the Toyota driver would block the ambulance from overtaking.
No, we don’t think the Toyota driver wasn’t alerted of the ambulance’s presence. It looked like the driver turned a deaf ear to the ambulance’s emergency.
In a conversation with WORLD OF BUZZ, one of the medical officers in the ambulance said the incident took place on the MRR2 Highway, near Flamingo Plaza.
“It started to happen around Lotus’ Ampang area when we were headed to Gombak.”
When asked if the patient made it to the hospital, the medical officer told WORLD OF BUZZ that they were sending the patient home.
“The doctors couldn’t do anything to cure the patient. He was in critical condition. We could only send him back to his family, and he was on oxygen mask all the time.”
He also confirmed with WORLD OF BUZZ that the medical team will be making a police report regarding the matter. You can watch the clip below.
