The Patti police have registered a case of rape against a resident of Bhaggupur village here. The incident is reported to have occurred four days ago.
The victim, a 19-year-old woman, alleged that the accused, identified as Jagpreet Singh, took her on a motorcycle to a motor room (‘bambi’) near Kairon on the pretext of offering her a job, where he allegedly served her a cold drink with a sedative mixed in, tied her to a bed, and raped her.
After committing the offence, the accused allegedly abandoned her on the outskirts of her village.
The police have registered a case against the accused in this regard. The victim’s statement was recorded by ASI Karamjit Kaur. The girl’s condition was stated to be serious, and she has been admitted to Patti Civil Hospital.
