Paydibs, a merchant payment provider, has become a direct participant in Payments Network Malaysia (PayNet) for DuitNow QR acceptance, removing the third-party arrangements that previously handled the connection on its behalf.
The change affects how transactions are processed on the back end, with Paydibs now routing DuitNow QR payments straight through PayNet’s national infrastructure rather than via intermediary partners.
Previously Handled Through Third-Party Partners
Until this point, Paydibs merchants could still accept DuitNow QR payments, but the connectivity to PayNet was managed through external partners.
Direct participation gives Paydibs full control over how transactions move through the network, which affects settlement speed and operating costs. The company had already made a similar move for FPX (Financial Process Exchange) payments, and this latest step extends that direct integration to cover DuitNow QR as well. Merchants using Paydibs can now access both payment rails through a single platform.
Faster Settlements And Clearer Cash Flow For Merchants

The primary change is on the operational side. Direct PayNet connectivity shortens the settlement cycle, meaning funds from DuitNow QR transactions reach merchant accounts more quickly.
If you run a small business where cash flow tracks closely with daily transaction volumes, a faster settlement timeline reduces the gap between when a sale happens and when that money is available. Paydibs also pointed to improved cost efficiency and greater visibility over transaction processing as part of the upgrade.
Direct Access Cuts Out A Layer For Merchants
Malaysia now has over 3 million merchants accepting QR payments, following the addition of more than 680,000 new DuitNow QR touchpoints in 2025 alone. Total digital payment transactions in the country reached 8.44 billion last year. At that volume, removing one intermediary from the settlement chain has a measurable effect — direct access cuts the processing fees merchants would otherwise carry, and gives Paydibs more control over how issues are managed when they arise.
The practical effect falls mainly on smaller businesses that process a high volume of DuitNow QR transactions daily. Paydibs also offers dynamic QR functionality, which generates a unique code per transaction rather than using a static QR, reducing the risk of misdirected payments as transaction volumes grow.
The company’s Paydibs Neo terminal, which combines QR payments, card payments, and Buy Now Pay Later (BNPL) options in a single device, sits within the same infrastructure this integration applies to.
For customers paying via DuitNow QR at a Paydibs-connected merchant, the checkout experience does not change. The difference is entirely on the back end, in how quickly those payments move and how efficiently they are processed before the money lands with the merchant.
