GEORGE TOWN – Penang Water Authority Holdings (PBAPP) will see its chief operating officer Pathmanathan Krishnan Kutty Raman Nair take over Datuk Seri Jaseni Maidinsa as chief executive officer.
Jaseni, 65, will retire when his contract ends in November, according to a statement released by PBAPP.
An engineer by training, Pathmanathan, 54, is expected to take over initiatives Jaseni has been active in, especially the conservation of water resources.
This is in view of Penang’s ongoing raw supply issues with Kedah and Perak.
Jaseni also reiterated the need to conserve water catchment areas, especially 163,103ha of rainforests in Ulu Muda, which provides raw water to Perlis, Kedah, and Penang.
He also wants a holistic and sustainable water supply management, through the implementation of supply-and-demand management initiatives and consumer awareness to cultivate a “water-smart” and “water-saving” society. – The Vibes, September 21, 2022
