PBM conflict will be resolved internally before nomination day: Zuraida

KUALA LUMPUR – Embattled Parti Bangsa Malaysia (PBM) leader Datuk Zuraida Kamaruddin said the internal strife plaguing her party will be resolved before nomination day.

This comes after the party’s president Larry Sng suspended Zuraida and 12 other supreme council members on Friday, and after he reiterated that he is in charge of PBM.

Without disclosing the details of the current internal conflicts, Zuraida said the party is looking to iron out the issues before the official registration of candidates on November 5.

“God willing, all the issues regarding the president post of PBM will be resolved before November 5, which is on nomination day,” she said.

Zuraida said this during a press conference after chairing a party election meeting at her constituency operations centre in Ukay Perdana, Ampang, here, this afternoon.

On another matter, Zuraida, who is the incumbent Ampang MP, said her party will not contest alongside any coalition in the coming national polls.

Zuraida added that PBM will defend six parliamentary seats and one state seat in Perak.

“PBM will contest solo and will not be collaborating with any existing coalitions,” she said.

Asked about PBM’s discussions on cooperation with Barisan Nasional (BN), Zuraida suggested that the party failed to reach a consensus with the coalition on the matter.

“We held the talks (with BN) but there were certain terms and conditions that we could not meet.”

On the status of the current leadership of PBM, Zuraida kept her words brief, insisting that the matter would be resolved internally. – The Vibes, October 30, 2022
