Kuala Lumpur: Wanita Parti Bersatu Rakyat Sabah (PBRS) proposed establishing women’s community centres across Sabah’s rural and interior regions to empower women to break free from the cycle of poverty and contribute to the State’s development.
Its Chief Datin Zainon Kayum Khan highlighted that these centres could function as entrepreneurship training hubs to boost household incomes, while also offering psycho-social support to help women navigate challenges such as poverty and family-related issues.
“These centres could also act as reference hubs for education and healthcare, enhancing their quality of life,” she said in her speech during the 50th-anniversary celebration of Wanita Barisan Nasional (BN), in conjunction with the party’s golden jubilee at the World Trade Centre Kuala Lumpur, Saturday.
Deputy Prime Minister and BN Chairman Datuk Seri Dr. Ahmad Zahid Hamidi is scheduled to deliver the keynote address later Saturday.
