MANILA, Philippines — Presidential Communications Office Undersecretary Claire Castro reported to the National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) threats supposedly made against her by former PCO chief Trixie Cruz-Angeles and one other.
The threats were posted on the Facebook page Luminous by Trixie Cruz-Angeles and Ahmed Paglinawan, which is known for posting and sharing anti-administration material.
“Actually, I just want it recorded — I'm just reporting the Facebook post of Luminous by Trixie Cruz-Angeles and Ahmed Paglinawan, regarding the threats they posted. This is addressed to me,” Castro said in Filipino and English.
She was referring to a part of the post that implied only her “appendix and coccyx” would be left unscathed once she is let go by her “humans,” or those currently in power.
The Palace Press Officer said this could be deemed as a “grave threat” and admitted that she now feared for her life.
“Of course I felt fear. I’m not used to (receiving) death threats. Saying ‘only your appendix would be left untouched’ is a different story. It means your life is being threatened. So, that’s how I felt and still feel up to now. That’s why I saw the need to report it,” Castro said.
“I really have to report this matter because if something happens to me, at least those persons who floated these grave threats are on record… If something happens to me, they already know the people to investigate,” she added.
The official further stated that she has yet to decide if she would take legal action against Cruz-Angeles and Paglinawan and would leave it to authorities to determine if if the social media post crossed legal lines.
