TAIPING: The implementation of Home-Based Teaching and Learning (PdPR) during periods of hot weather will not affect students’ education.
Deputy Education Minister Wong Kah Woh (pic) said the PdPR approach has proven effective since its introduction during the COVID-19 pandemic.
He noted it has also been used during other unforeseen situations like natural disasters.
“PdPR is not a problem, but what is important when we want to address this issue is to ensure that the health and welfare of our children is given priority,” he said.
Wong was speaking at a press conference after the Taiping Municipal Council Oath-Taking Ceremony.
He stressed that every PdPR implementation is ensured to run effectively and efficiently.
Schools are always ready to switch between PdPR and face-to-face learning as needed.
The minister also said the Education Ministry has not received any reports of heat stroke cases involving students.
Last Saturday, the Kedah State Education Department announced a three-day PdPR implementation.
It began yesterday and involves 206 schools in Kota Setar and Pendang.
The directive was issued after both districts recorded Level 2 heat wave temperatures for three consecutive days.
