PDRM Arrests Terengganu Married Couple For Trying to Steal Mosque’s Donation Box TWICE

The Royal Malaysia Police (PDRM) has arrested a married couple in Dungun, Terengganu after CCTV footage from Masjid Kuala Abang showed them trying to break and steal the mosque’s donation box.

The video of the theft attempt has since circulated on social media, including in this tweet by MyNewsHub.

In the video, the couple can be seen unsuccessfully trying to open the donation box, with the wife mostly being tasked to keep guard and watch out for any people coming into the vicinity.

As reported by Kosmo!, Dungun District Police Chief Superintendent Baharudin Abdullah in a statement asserted that both suspects, a 26-year-old man and his 23-year-old wife were arrested yesterday (14 June) to assist in the investigation.

Both suspects were believed to have attempted to steal the donation box on two separate occasions, on 6 and 8 June 2023 respectively. They failed in both attempts.

Following the arrest, a urine test on the husband found him to be positive for methamphetamine while the wife’s urine test turned out negative.

Baharudin elaborated that the case is currently being investigated under Section 388 and Section 511 of the Penal Code.
