13 Mat Rempits were caught by PDRM on Sunday (September 8), and let’s just say they probably did not foresee what came next.

In an official statement from the Investigation and Traffic Enforcement Department of KL (JSPT), the illegal street racers, aged between 14 to 19 were brought to Surau An Nazahah in KL to perform Subuh prayers together (dawn prayers). The religious approach is one of those used in dealing with social problems for teenage motorcyclists, said Assistant Commissioner Mohd. Zamzuri Mohd. Isa, the head of JSPT.

After getting caught in an operation, the illegal riders were brought to the Tun HS Lee Police Station for documentation purposes before their next destination – the Musolla or Surau.

The group of Rempits managed to complete the Subuh prayers together but that was not the end of their days. After the prayers, the group of youth had to sit at the Surau for another period of time for a lesson and a motivational talk.

“The religious approach to teenagers is expected to help their souls and minds to do more noble deeds,” Zamzuri said.

Zamsuri also reminded the parents to pay more attention to their children, especially teenagers who are often on the road, and make sure that the youth stay away from trouble and dangers on the road.

What do you think of this approach to “soften” the hearts of these ‘wild’ youths?
