The Royal Malaysia Police (PDRM) recorded an impressive RM2.1 million in summons collections on the first day of its 60 per cent discount offer. The initiative is part of the Two Years of Madani Government (2TM) programme aimed at easing financial burdens and improving public engagement.
Federal Traffic Investigation and Enforcement Department director, Datuk Seri Mohd Yusri Hassan Basri, revealed that 24,400 summonses were successfully settled on the first day alone. He highlighted that the three most common offences resolved during the campaign were traffic obstruction, ignoring traffic signals, and speeding.
“We encourage the public to use online payment options for a faster and more convenient experience,” said Mohd Yusri. He emphasized the utility of the MyBayar PDRM app and website, accessible at https://mybayar.rmp.gov.my/en/main.
He further explained that individuals who prefer physical counters could streamline the process by obtaining a QR code coupon from traffic officers stationed at the Kuala Lumpur Convention Centre. This allows them to proceed directly to counters for traffic summons checks and payments without lengthy waits.
In a show of solidarity with the initiative, Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim and his deputies, including Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Seri Fadillah Yusof, visited the summons counters today. They interacted warmly with members of the public, further bolstering the spirit of the Madani programme.
Deputy Prime Minister Fadillah Yusof proposed extending the discount initiative nationwide, citing positive feedback from visitors. Many attendees expressed their gratitude to the government for providing financial relief and simplifying the summons settlement process.
“We have taken measures to ensure the comfort and convenience of visitors,” Mohd Yusri added. For the event, 25 counters were set up for summons checks and payments, including seven special counters and 21 e-payment machines. Additionally, 520 seats were made available to accommodate waiting members of the public.
The discount programme has emerged as one of the main attractions of the 2TM celebrations, which are themed “Madani di Hati, Rakyat Disantuni” (Madani at Heart, Citizens Cared For).
The campaign has successfully combined technological accessibility and on-ground support to cater to a wide range of participants. The large turnout and high collection figures on the first day underscore the effectiveness of this initiative in promoting road safety compliance while fostering goodwill between the government and its citizens.
With the success of the 2TM programme, PDRM aims to continue improving its services and enhancing public satisfaction through similar initiatives in the future.
