The post PDRM: Depression Identified as Cause in Murder of 45yo Headmaster & 44yo Nurse Wife in Sarawak appeared first on WORLD OF BUZZ.

Previously, the Royal Malaysia Police (PDRM) investigated the deaths of a 45-year-old school headmaster and his 44-year-old wife after they were found dead at their home in Sarawak on 14 January.

As we reported earlier, the late headmaster had reportedly just been promoted earlier this month and transferred to a school in Lubok Antu, Sri Aman, while his wife worked as a nurse at Sri Aman Hospital.

School headmaster who was found dead is believed to have been suffering from depression

In a recent update, PDRM has confirmed that depression was the cause behind the murder of the married couple.

According to Berita Harian, Sarawak Police Commissioner Datuk Mohamad Zainal Abdullah said the male victim was believed to have been dealing with depression since being transferred to the school.

He added that during the investigation under Section 302 of the Penal Code, the police recorded statements from 30 witnesses, including family members, neighbours, friends, and colleagues of both victims.

“Based on statements from family, friends, and colleagues, the man, who was also a headmaster, is believed to have been struggling with depression since being transferred to a school in Lubok Antu, Sri Aman,” he said.

“The murder involved only the married couple”

Mohamad Zainal added that chemical tests on the sharp weapon used in the incident found no foreign DNA, with only the DNA of both victims detected.

He also said the police recorded statements from the pathologist who performed the autopsy on the couple.

“We are now just waiting for the forensic results from the victims’ mobile phones, which could help us understand the true motive behind the incident beyond depression.

“What we can conclude is that the case is closed, as the investigation at the scene found no signs of a break-in or missing items that would suggest a robbery.”
