PDRM, however, had released all 5 people on bail after interrogating them. As for another fatal shooting at a mall in Cheras, Kuala Lumpur, that took place days later, the police said no arrests have been made at the moment. Kuala Lumpur Deputy Police Chief, Datuk Mohamed Usuf Jan Mohamad, said efforts are being made to locate the suspects involved in the Cheras shooting, which caused the death of two men from Sarawak.

Police, however, believed that the motive in both KL fatal shootings was related to gang rivalry, as all of the deceased had connections in gang matters.

At the time of writing (June 22), the statements from 18 witnesses had been recorded for the Brickfields shooting, while 20 witnesses had provided their statements for the Cheras shooting.

The police added that the shooting at the mall in Cheras was related to smuggling activities in Sibu, Sarawak, reported Harian Metro.
