KUALA LUMPUR: The Royal Malaysia Police (PDRM) is ready to conduct an investigation into reports of alleged elements of bribes and threats, related to the support expressed by several Perikatan Nasional (PN) Members of Parliament (MPs) for Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim.

Home Minister Datuk Seri Saifuddin Nasution Ismail said that the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) has also given assurances that it is ready to do the same.

“When lodging a report, produce everything that has been mentioned as evidence. If it is a threat, it is under Section 506 of the Penal Code, while Section 16 and Section 17 of the MACC Act are related to bribery.

“In the report, include all the elements that have been mentioned to both agencies,“ he said, at the Minister’s Question Time session in the Dewan Rakyat today.

He was responding to an interjection by Wan Ahmad Fayhsal Wan Ahmad Kamal (PN-Machang) who said that Bersatu Armada (Youth) had lodged a police report on the matter last night.

Recently, four Bersatu MPs, namely Datuk Iskandar Dzulkarnain Abdul Khalid (Kuala Kangsar), Datuk Dr Suhaili Abdul Rahman (Labuan), Mohd Azizi Abu Naim (Gua Musang) and Zahari Kechik (Jeli) expressed support for Anwar, which led to allegations of corruption. - Bernama
