31-year-old Daniel Lee went missing in Ipoh before his corpse was found stuffed into a suitcase on Thursday (9 October), and the Royal Malaysian Police (PDRM) has confirmed his cause of death.

The victim died from suffocation

Daniel, who worked as a sales insurance manager, allegedly texted his mother at 1 AM after he went missing, informing the latter that he would be heading to Perlis for work and may return home the next day.

Daniel never made it, and his mother suspected that the text was sent by someone else.

His body was found stuffed in a suitcase, with his hands tied, throat slashed, and head covered in a plastic bag.

PDRM then cordoned off the scene, and efforts to search for evidence in the car were launched. The car was later towed back to the police station for further investigations, and the police are currently reviewing the CCTV footage near the crime scenes.

A report by Sin Chew stated that Daniel’s body was abandoned in an area that has yet to be developed, and is overgrown with weeds.

There is also not much traffic in the area where Daniel’s body was found, with only a few vehicles passing through now and then.

PDRM is now on the hunt for the murder suspect, and the matter is now being investigated under Section 302 of the Penal Code. Stay tuned as we keep you updated.
