PDRM seizes RM1.96 billion worth of drugs since January

THE Royal Malaysian Police (PDRM) recorded drug seizures worth RM1.96 billion nationwide through operations carried out from January to September 14.

Inspector-General of Police Datuk Seri Mohd Khalid Ismail said a total of 174,134 investigation papers were opened involving the Narcotics Criminal Investigation Department (NCID) during that period.

"From the operation, the NCID managed to seize various types of drugs in solid form weighing 83,305 kilograms (kg).

"As for liquid forms, the total amount seized was 69,155.85 litres," he said at a press conference at the Kuala Lumpur Police Training Centre (PULAPOL), today.

Also present was Director of the NCID Datuk Hussein Omar Khan.

Mohd Khalid said the value of the seizure proved the PDRM's commitment in combating the spread of illicit substances in the local market.

However, he said the large value of the seizure also reflected the scale of the threat posed by drug syndicates in Malaysia.

"This amount demonstrates PDRM's determination that every attempt to smuggle, distribute or misuse drugs will be dealt with thoroughly.

"PDRM will continue to consistently curb this threat for the well-being of the community and national security," he said. - September 17, 2025
