A recent video went viral after a man approached 2 boys near a vending machine and allegedly made an attempt to kidnap one of them within the school compounds within a mosque in SS15, Subang Jaya.
According to Bernama, police have denied that the boy, who was seen being held by a man in a mosque in a viral video, was a victim of an attempted kidnapping.
The suspect inquired about the boy’s name and address
Subang Jaya police chief ACP Wan Azlan Wan Mamat stated that investigations suggest the 10-year-old boy was likely a victim of sexual assault.
He explained that the suspect had asked the boy for his name and home address, which scared the child and made him run to a nearby school for safety.
The boy reported the incident to a local woman, who then received a video and images of the incident the following day.
The attempted kidnapping claims were false
Wan Azlan mentioned that the video, which went viral on Facebook, showed images and claims about an attempted kidnapping in Subang Jaya. But after looking into it, they’ve found that these claims aren’t true.
He also said that the case is being looked into under Section 14(a) of the Sexual Offences Against Children Act 2021 and Section 233 of the Communications and Multimedia Act 1998.
The police are advising the public to exercise greater caution when posting statements on social media, especially those that could potentially generate unnecessary alarm or concern among the general public.
